Organized Chaos
Concrete and acrylic on stretched canvas
20 × 20 inches
This piece centers on a layered, hand-formed heart embedded in concrete, radiating outward with flowing bands of saturated color. The heart is built from concentric lines—each layer distinct yet connected—suggesting depth, protection, and accumulated experience. Hairline cracks in the concrete surface are left visible, emphasizing vulnerability and resilience coexisting in the same form.
Surrounding the heart, sweeping, wave-like strokes in teal, magenta, mustard, violet, coral, and slate move across the canvas, creating a sense of motion and energy, almost like sound or memory expanding outward. The rough texture of concrete contrasts sharply with the fluid acrylic lines, giving the piece a tactile, almost geological presence while maintaining a playful, emotive palette.
The work balances raw materiality with warmth and optimism—celebrating imperfection, movement, and the idea that strength is built layer by layer. It invites the viewer to see the heart not as a fragile symbol, but as something durable, dynamic, and alive within the chaos around it.
