Mochiron

Acrylic on Stretched Canvas • 16 x 20 inches

Named after Mochi, the beloved dog who inspired this commissioned portrait, Mochiron draws its title from the Japanese word meaning “of course.” The name is a playful blend of Mochi’s identity and the feeling that anyone who knows this dog would immediately recognize the confidence, charm, and personality captured in the painting.

Set against a rich blue background, Mochi fills the canvas with a joyful, self-assured expression. Energetic yellow linework radiates around the figure like a halo of electricity, emphasizing the dog’s vibrant spirit and larger-than-life presence. The contrast between the crisp white fur and the bold background creates a striking visual impact, while subtle blue tones woven throughout the coat add depth, movement, and texture.

The painting balances realism with expressive contemporary elements, incorporating a loose, street-art-inspired energy that enhances the portrait without losing the recognizable character of its subject. Every brushstroke works to capture not only Mochi’s appearance, but also the warmth and personality that make him unique.

Mochiron is a celebration of companionship, loyalty, and the unmistakable presence of a dog whose expression seems to say, “Of course.”
